SUMMARY:CT Botanical Society Fieldtrip Colebrook\, CT 10am - 12noon
DESCRIPTION:We will meet in the parking lot behind the Colebrook Town Hall. We will not visit MT Pisgah Rd.\, instead we will travel about three miles to a private site as it has a rich variety of botanicals. That said we will be on a hill side and lower\ntrail so dress appropriately for the weather and we suggest a walking stick may be helpful for\nsome people. We are hoping to get the morning in before and serious rain or storms come\nalong. The private site has flush toilets that we may use and I will bring waivers to sign before we head out into the field. Please meet us by 10 AM.

DESCRIPTION:Wings over Water – Earth Day Showing\n6:30 pm and 7:30 pm viewings\nBantam Cinema & Arts Center\n115 Bantam Lake Road\, Bantam CT\n$10/person\nAs the glaciers retreated at the end of the last ice age\, they left an astounding gift of connected rivers\, lakes and wetlands across the heartland of North America. Today\, these largely unknown water highways remain an oasis for sustaining wildlife\, from the herds of bison that still roam the Great Plains to the vital bees that pollinate our crops and especially for the millions of magnificent birds that migrate along these “flyways.” \nWings Over Water\, narrated by award winning actor Michael Keaton tells the story of the epic journeys of three amazing bird families – the Sandhill Crane\, the Yellow Warbler and the Mallard Duck – with extraordinary footage of their fascinating behaviors. \nAudiences will be captivated by the triumphs and challenges of these remarkable creatures that defy all odds and soar across mountains\, deserts\, cities and forests as they head home to raise their young. \nThe evening will conclude with a brief series of talks with local experts in the fields of wildlife and conservation. Learn how you can make your own property a welcome mat for migrating birds\, bees\, and bats!
